Artist's Description
There is a little cubicle on top of Masada where a sofer (Jewish scribe) copies the Torah. It is a very exacting process that MUST be perfect. Any tiny mistake and an entire section has to be thrown away. I shot this photo of him doing his work and earlier in the gallery you can see the closeup of the Torah portion - Chayei Sara - that he was working on.
About Endre Balogh
From earliest childhood, Endre Balogh has been an internationally known concert violinist. He spent much of his career touring the world, playing solo recitals, concertos with orchestras, and chamber music – working with such eminent musical luminaries as Zubin Mehta, Christoph von Dohnányi, Vladimir Horowitz, and André Watts. In 2004, he severely curtailed his touring schedule to spend more time with his wife and children and rapidly began honing his passion for photography. Soon, he was winning top awards in contests and his unique aesthetic vision and reputation for consistently beautiful work earned him an enviable reputation among his photographic colleagues.
